This is a piano from a church in the ninth ward in New Orleans after hurricane katrina.

The saddest thing about this photo is the fact that hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and the other areas of the Gulf Coast on August 29th, 2005 and this was photographed almost exactly two years later in August of 2007.

This church was in exactly the same condition as it was when I first entered it months after the hurricane. The only new features were the mold patterns that had grown and the new dust that was now dry.

Can you believe this is still going on in OUR country? These people still need help and they are ignored. I feel sorry for the next natural disaster victims that have to get in the back of the rebuilding line. Think about it.

My brother lost everything and had to fight harder than any citizen should to get any sort of help after being cheated by insurance companies.

Habitat for Humanity is definitely helping people though. We need a better government and more groups like Habitat.

Ah, every time I introduce myself, people say, "Oh, like the hurricane?" Yes. Like the hurricane that came long after I did. Either way, great photo. It's such a lonely looking piano- I wish I could be there to play (or try to play it since it's beat up there.) it.

Wow. This is an amazing shot.

It's very sad that the clean up is far from over. Almost 6 years later and people are still trying to get their lives back to normal.

Thankyou this is a nice reminder. My older brother lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and He saw the eye of the storm go over him in Bay St Lious Mississippi.

I was just searching "katrina" on dA today as I thought maybe some other people had remembrances of some kind... of course, this was the only picture I saw that was about a hurricane, not a girl.
